Therapeutic Holding (CuddleTherapy)

What is it...and what is it not:

Cuddle Therapy is a deeply innate modality that activates the body's self-healing powers through the natural reduction of cortisol in the body. Specific types of touch administered by a skilled professional combine with the effects of empowered vulnerability to release natural endorphins and hormones that counter chronic stress. In this way, blood pressure is reduced and the vitals organs are given a break from the continual stress they are often under in our safety-deprived, touch-starved society.

Cuddle Therapy is not sex-work. At all times, both Practitioner and Client stay fully clothed and mindfully cultivate a platonic (non-sexual) physical and emotional closeness. You can read more about the Cuddlist Code of Conduct here.

The Role of Cuddle Therapy in Healing:

In the past few years, major thought leaders in psychology and trauma-recovery have emphasized the important role of safe, platonic touch in healing. In 2019, Cuddlist practitioners - including founder Madelon Guinazzo, and Maryam "Mia" Brown - were invited to attend the national PsychNetworker Conference to share the modality with such leaders as Malcolm Gladwell, Sue Johnson, Jeannine Turner, Gabor Mate, Deany Laliotis, and Bissel Van Der Kolk.
